What’s happening in Charlotte this evening for International Women’s Day? Lots!
Today all over the world women are celebrating International Women’s Day in their own way. International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Across the globe there are rallies and marches for rights. There are also women celebrating by making today “a day without women”. Those who are able are staying home from work to show what the world would be like without women in it. The women who cannot stay home from work are out in the world wearing red to show their support. To see events happening all over the globe or somewhere near you, click here!
The slogan of the day is “Be Bold for Change”, so how is Charlotte being bold? Tonight from 6:30 pm onward at the International House Charlotte International Women’s Day is hosting a night full of guest speakers, networking, Folk dance, poetry, and much more. The women of Charlotte, North Carolina will be gathering together to share support, ideas, and most of all love and laughter! If you can’t be at the event, follow the event’s Facebook page to keep up with the evening!
If you’ve checked out the link and can’t attend what’s happening near you, you can still show your support. You can be a smart buyer! Put your money where the women are, and only shop at women owned local businesses. Helping to build women up in the business world can be a part of your daily activities if you shop wisely. In fact, building up women in general is the key to how we can continue to show support in everything we do. Although today is the day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women, there are no right ways to celebrate this day. It’s a day for us to acknowledge the women in our lives that we aspire to be like, a day for us women to relish in our girl power and scream it from the rooftops! It’s a day to celebrate something we should be celebrating everyday. So get involved today (and everyday)!
