June 11th, 12-2 p.m.
The Equality March for Unity and Pride is a global movement that will be brought to Charlotte, NC- the epicenter of House Bill 2 (HB2).
The purpose of the Equality March, along with the other sister marches, is to give voice to community concerns, and to support, uplift, and bring attention to those in our communities who are targeted due to immigration status, ethnicity, religion, skin color, gender, sexual orientation, age and disability. This march is to affirm and celebrate that we are a mix of diverse communities. Register for the march for free here!
All marchers should meet at First Ward Park just before noon. The march will begin down Brevard St. towards the Spectrum Center, take 5th St. to Caldwell St., then go down E 3rd St. to Marshall Park where special speakers will make an appearance. Marchers must stay on the sidewalks and obey traffic and pedestrian signals while also being mindful of other pedestrian traffic.
Some of the guest speakers will consist of one transgender activist, NOW which is a women’s organization, Alexis Frank a former congressional candidate from South Carolina, and someone from Archie Parnell’s current campaign, says source from the Charlotte Equality March.
